ISI

How do I apply for entry to ISI?

ISI is not open to the public, and students do not apply to ISI directly. Each department nominates a select group of students who have already been accepted by The Graduate School to participate. Only Ph.D and MFA students are eligible. A call for nominations goes out in early February to department representatives. If you have been accepted as a Ph.D student for Fall 2008, and have not yet been nominated, contact your department's admissions officer or send an e-mail to the ISI staff.

If you are a department representative and would like to nominate a student, please send an e-mail to Julia Moore, ISI Director.

If you are a student who was not accepted into ISI but you have been accepted into the Northwestern Graduate School class of 2008, you may also participate in the English as a Second Language Program. This program offers a variety of classes, individual tutoring and workshops to help you improve your English skills and orient you to American culture. Please review the ESL program website to learn more.

If you are a current Northwestern graduate student, faculty or staff member, you can also register for ESL classes on CAESAR and sign up for tutoring in the ESL program starting in the spring or fall quarters.
