Integration Issues
Integration into American academic culture is accomplished through the Integration Issues Conference, a one-day mini-conference that includes panel discussions, meetings with department representatives, and presentations by ISI students. The conference begings in the morning with a series of panel discussions with graduate students, undergraduates and faculty from across the university. Each discussion centers around one aspect of life in an American university, particularly those issues which present challenges to international graduate students. Each panelist will briefly present his or her perspective on the issue, followed by a question and answer session, in which students can pose questions to any of the panelists. In the afternoon, each student eats lunch with a representative from his or her own department, allowing for further disucssion of academic life within each discipline. In the afternoon sessions, students give short presentations on their own research interests and receive feedback from their peers and instructors. See our calendar for more information on this year's conference.
The third branch of ISI is designed to integrate students to American culture and to the culture of Northwestern university.
