Social Events
Instruction in the classroom is only one part of the ISI program. Our social events give students a chance to use the skills they are learning in the classroom in real world situations. Several social events are scheduled each week during ISI to give students a chance to get to know each other better, to speak with Americans, to explore Evanston and Chicago, and to have fun! Students interact with ISI faculty and volunteers from the Community Council for International Students, a local organization that supports the international community at Northwestern.
Students are expected to use English at all times during social events. This practice is an essential part of the immersion process; therefore, regular attendance at social activities is expected of all ISI students. Most events are free to students. Some may require a modest admission fee of $2-8; those fees are noted in the schedule. We use public transportation to reach most events.
